Thorns Community Infant school has 180 children between the ages of four and seven. The school is housed in modern buildings with extensive grounds for the children to learn and play, including a swimming pool, library and willow garden.
We place a great importance on learning key skills, developing a healthy lifestyle, making friendships and building self-confidence and a sense of self-respect.
We believe that each individual has a unique place within our school family and the contribution he or she will make is important.
In our most recent Ofsted Inspection (February 2013) Thorns was judged to be a good school.
'The school is a happy place. The pupils make good friends, enjoy their learning and are pleased to attend.' Ofsted report 2013
Our partner school is Park Hill Junior School and together we form the Park Hill Thorns Federation; one governing body and one head teacher are responsible for both schools. Most of our children transfer to Park Hill after three years at Thorns. We also work closely with Brambles, our onsite pre-school and before and after school club.
